Best Buy has a less-than-stellar reputation for its customer service, but this is the most ridiculous story we've heard so far.
Customer Rich Dewberry says that he brought in a cell phone to Best Buy to get it fixed, and handed it over to a Best Buy employee, reports 7 News.
Minutes later, his Facebook status read, "I am gay, I'm coming out."
Dewberry says he didn't post that update, but he had left his phone log
ged into Facebook when he handed it over to the Best Buy employees.
He was quickly bombarded with calls from friends and family asking him about it, and he says he's "humiliated." Now Dewberry has to explain to everyone that he's not gay.
He went back to the store and filed a complaint, and he was told that the culprit had been fired.
What would prompt an employee to do that? It has created a nightmare for everybody involved, and Dewberry is now exploring his legal options.
Best Buy responded with a basic PR statement, and didn't confirm to 7 News whether or not the employee had been canned. Here's what it released:
"Each year, every employee of Best Buy is asked to review and sign our Code of Ethics, which includes details on how they are expected to handle customer information."
