High-end fitness chain Equinox chose to go the racy route with its first ad campaign for the new year, and some of its own members are irate, reports Cheryl Wischhover at Fashionista.
The ads, shot by photographer Terry Richardson, are quite sexualized and feature skinny female models (along with some buff males). There's no actual exercising to be found.
That didn't sit well with some folks, and they complained on the company's Facebook page. They aren't complaining about the sex factor -- the Equinox brand has long used sex to sell itself. Instead, they're mad that the runway physiques of the models set a bad example for health and fitness.
Now, Equinox is getting a ton of exposure because of the ads, but also has to figure out a way to calm down its own customers.
Take a look at the ads -- what do you think?
