LinkedIn is trying to compete with Twitter and Facebook by letting members follow business celebrities—what it calls "thought leaders"—who post updates on the service.
It seems to be working. Virgin chairman Richard Branson has 769,000 followers, CEO Jeff Weiner just said in the company's third-quarter earnings call.
Branson has 2.6 million followers on Twitter.
We wonder if this move has anything to do with Twitter and LinkedIn's recent messy breakup.
