Nasty Gal Sophia Amoruso

Sophia Amoruso never went to college.

An L.A. waitress, she took to eBay and decided to sell vintage clothing there in a fun way.

She started gathering, selling and shipping the clothing and created Nasty Gal in 2007.

Five years later, the company has become a hugely popular source of fashion with 50 employees. It's the first Forever 21-type company (high fashion, low cost) to take off online.

Aly Weisman, Business Insider's 26-year-old entertainment editor, tells us she loves the company and has known about it for more than a year.  "The vintage stuff she puts online sells out in like three minutes," she says.

One source tells us the company generated a rumored ~ $30 million last year and took home ~ $8 million.

Investors were dying to give Amoruso money.

In the end, Index Ventures won and is leading the round.

We don't know specific numbers, but another source tells us the valuation is probably between $60-80 million, maybe even north of that.

Meet Nasty Gal, one of the hottest L.A. companies right now.

Sophia Amoruso founded the company in 2007 as an eBay merchant. She never went to college.

Amoruso made a name for herself selling vintage clothing. She mixes vintage clothing with current fashion trends on Nasty Gal.
