Howard Schultz famously got his idea for Starbucks during a trip to Europe. While traveling through Milan in the 1980s, he was taken by the concept of coffee bars. There wasn't anything like it in the U.S.
Now Starbucks is opening its first concept store in Europe this Friday, where it'll test out new premium lines of coffee and different forms of brewing. It's located in Amsterdam's Rembrandt Square and is the largest store in Europe at 4,500 square feet (via Fast Company).
Starbucks has been revamping its strategy in recent few months, announcing the opening of juice bars, offering alcohol at some of its locations and opening a ski-through store in California. It also introduced a blonde roast coffee to compete more directly with Dunkin Donuts.
