What better way is there to put excitement back into a drawn-out primary slog than a sexy new candidate? That's right, there's a new candidate ready to hit the campaign trail this summer, and she's a doll.
Literally. It's Barbie.
Yup, the plastic toy, beloved by millions of children around the world, has just announced that she will be running for president, according to Elle Magazine. And to celebrate her bid, she's coming with a couple of new features, like the ability to stand on her own.
“Barbie has just announced that she is running for President in 2012, and will be dressed by designer Chris Benz," according to a press release from Barbie manufacturer Mattel, obtained by Elle. "With the help of Chris’ pink wedge heels, Barbie is standing on her own for the very first time.”
Turns out, it's not her first time running for president. According to The Hill, Barbie has run in every presidential election since 1992.
This time, though, she'll be doing so with the help of The White House Project, an organization that "ignites the leadership of women in business and politics."
