Social is weaving its way further into the retail industry every day.
It's not limited to web-only companies who are trying to integrate social networks into their websites. Brick-and-mortar retailers are working hard not to be left behind too. Social is something that's guaranteed to greatly influence what the future retail world will look like.
Tara Hunt, CEO and co-founder of fashion recommendation site Buyosphere, has put together a great presentation about what social means for the future of commerce.
"What is that thing we can do to help make our customers' lives simpler, less confusing, less alienating, more efficient, more meaningful and just plain better?" writes Hunt in the presentation.
She addresses shopper motivations and what retailers can do to help spur them, and dives into the importance of a strong brand identity as the retail industry morphs.
In the latter part of her presentation, Hunt provides some helpful case studies of retailers out there that understand social and are doing things right like ASOS, Fab, Modcloth and Brooklyn Industries.
